Songfacts®:

  • This was released as the third single from The Drums' third album Portamento. Frontman Jonny Pierce explained: "The song is about that moment when you realize that you are someone different from what you once were. Different needs, different desires. Different hopes and fears." The single was released on February 27, 2012.
  • Like many of the band's tracks, the upbeat music belies melancholic lyrical content. Pierce said to Q magazine of the New York quartet's content: "The music seems joyful, but the subject matter is 99 per cent hopelessness."
  • The accompanying video was produced by Roberts Stage Co and features a transgender friend of the band: the American model and fashion icon Amanda Lepore. Pierce explained: "We were lucky enough to have a special guest in our video who is a dear friend and a radiant symbol of being true to who you know you are and moving away from a dark past."
