Songfacts®:

  • "Mirror" is the opening track from Abysmal Thoughts, The Drums fourth studio album. The record was released on June 16, 2017. "I feel like on every release before Abysmal Thoughts, I was lyrically pointing the finger outward," frontman Johnny Pierce told Nylon. "I was always blaming others in my songs for my hardships. This album was about that a little bit, but much more so it was about taking responsibility and looking inward."
  • This was the track on Abysmal Thoughts that came together the quickest. Pierce told HMV.com: "I honestly have almost no memory of making that song - and no it's not because I was too drunk or high. It's just that songs like this just deliver themselves with a bow on top. You sit down, hit record, eat lunch, and the song is done… and you're just sitting there confused at how that happened!"
