Songfacts®:

  • This is one of a number of tracks on Embryonic edited from a free-form jam. Each of them was named after astrological signs-hence this song's title. Frontman Wayne Coyne explained in press notes: "The most free-form of all the early freakout jams. Initial recording goes on for about 10 minutes. This I just a piece of that. Michael on bass, Steven on wah Rhodes, Kliph doing exploding drums and me on echo 12-string guitar."
  • Wayne spoke of the bizarre tune in a 2009 L.A. Record interview, saying: "I'm sure that even by our standards, that's one of the strangest Flaming Lips tracks you'll ever experience. It tells you, 'Beware!' I always felt sort of like the sword you pull out could do more damage to you than to the thing you're attacking. When you go to attack, it sort of falls apart. I could cut my own leg off if I'm not careful!"
