Songfacts®:

  • This one of several tracks on Imploding The Mirage that deals with Brandon Flowers' wife Tana's Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has struggled with PTSD for several years because of traumas experienced in her childhood; here Flowers expresses his admiration for Tana's power to fight back against dark forces.

"The more that I write about my wife's experiences, I'm able to grow closer to her and have more empathy for her," he told NME.
  • Flowers has written about his wife's mental health problems before, including on "Wonderful Wonderful" and "Some Kind of Love." However, on Imploding The Mirage he deals with the positive side of getting through difficult times.

"The good thing about this new record is that it doesn't focus on the doom and gloom, as much as on the perseverance and the recovery," Flowers told The Sun. "It's triumphant in a beautiful way. I feel happiness is manifest on the record."
