Songfacts®:

  • The Rutles were a parody of The Beatles. The basic track to this song was recorded during the original 1976 sessions for the Rutles mockumentary soundtrack. It was left unfinished until 1996, when it was revived for the Archaeology album as a tribute to the late Ollie Halsall, the guitar player whose voice appears on the original Rutles recordings as "Dirk McQuickly." The new lyrics to the song mention the rumored four alleged unreleased Beatles songs that were found to be a hoax: "Pink Litmus Paper Shirt," "Deckchair," "Left Is Right (And Right Is Wrong)," and "Colliding Circles." >>>
