Songfacts®:

  • The Script trio penned this gospel-like ballad with The Messengers, who are a Canadian songwriting and producing duo comprising singer/lyricist Nasri Atweh and multi-instrumentalist/arranger Adam Messinger. The Messengers other credits include Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never," Chris Brown's "Next 2 You" and Pitbull's "Feel This Moment" as well as Nasri's own band, Magic's, hit single "Rude."
  • Vocalist Danny O'Donoghue recalled the laying down of the song in a track-by-track interview with The Independent:

"I remember when we started to record it the hairs going up on the back of my neck because it was an important message for people who feel like they have nobody to go to, and feels like there is no one there to give them a hug to let them know when times are bad."
  • For the song's music video, The Script teamed up with A Sense of Home, a non-profit organization that helps provide homes for young people who have aged out of the foster care system. The clip showcases the stories of some of the kids who've been helped by the outfit.

"For us, this is more than just a music video," the band shared in a press statement. "Like the song itself, we wanted to reach out to as many people as possible, people who have been less fortunate in life, giving them a platform to tell their stories. On researching the ideas for the video, we came across so many charities, and while they are all doing such great work, we were immediately inspired by A Sense Of Home and wanted to show support and build awareness."
