  • This poignant breakup anthem explores the intense feelings you have when you recognize your love interest wants out.

We said that it would last, but how come it's the last time?
I'm tryna hold your hand but feeling like my hand's tied
You said we'd be forever, now you'll never ever be mine

Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue is singing of his heartbreak regarding the ending of what he thought was a lasting relationship. This could be the last time he watches her leave.
  • The song was released as the lead single from Sunsets & Full Moons. It is one of a number of tracks written in the wake of O'Donoghue's split from his longtime model girlfriend, Anne De Paula, in 2018.
  • It is a crushing feeling when somebody says they are going to be around forever, before walking out on you. Guitarist Mark Sheehan explained to Apple Music the song is about the nuances of miscommunication.

"While a person is standing in front of you, saying one thing, they're playing with their chain or biting their lip," he said. "Sometimes what your mouth is saying and what your body is saying are two different things."
  • The song's music video continues The Script's long-standing collaboration with director Charles Mehling. The clip was filmed in London and features Polish model Anna Jogodzinska.
