Songfacts®:

  • Also known as "My Miss From Diss" or simply "Miss From Diss," this song appeared on The Singing Postman debut EP that was put out by local businessman and radio presenter Ralph Tuck; the other three tracks were "Come Along A Me", "Moind Yer Hid Boy" and his big hit "Hev Yew Gotta Loight, Boy?" (Spelling and punctuation varies with many Allan Smethurst songs).
  • The lyrics to "Miss From Diss" can be found in the Keith Skipper biography of The Singing Postman, and the full score in the 1966 Dick James Music anthology Songs of The Singing Postman Allan Smethurst Souvenir Album. The song is a reminiscence about a love that may have been, but sadly wasn't, or at best was unrequited. >>>
