Songfacts®:

  • Rachel Unthanks co-wrote this song, taking inspiration from another tune that her husband Adrian McNally was working on for Mount The Air. She explained to The Sun: "Adrian was working on his song Foundling, inspired by the Foundling Hospital in London and so we had a lot of resources lying around the house. I was particularly touched by a bulk of tokens, which are objects like rings, drawings or pieces of cloth that mothers would leave with their children so that they could return in better times and claim them back."

"This token of love and hope inspired me to adapt the lullaby 'Golden Slumbers' into a Last Lullaby."
