Songfacts®:

  • This tells the story of falling for a girl who is not into guys at all. The lyrics are based on a real-life experience that happened to one of The Vamps. Guitarist James McVey told Digital Spy: "It's a concept that happened to one of us but we embellished it and exaggerated it in the song. It was never a relationship where she went off with anyone or anything," he explained. "One of us started liking someone and then she said 'No, I like girls.' It wasn't great. Friend-zoned to the max."

"We're not saying that there's anything wrong with it. That's where I would think someone was being inappropriate, if they were saying that and that it's bad. For us it was just a bit of fun," McVey added. "It's a funny thing for us and we're not trying to be controversial and say that it's wrong. We're just finding it funny that it happened to one of us."
  • Asked about the lyric, "I made a move, she said 'Baby you're mistaken, I'm not into bacon," McVey said: "I think it's quite an American thing. A lot of people don't know that it says that. When we've got it on the radio they never question it and think it's a bit inappropriate, so we're quite lucky we got away with it really."
  • A new version was recorded for the single release featuring additional vocals by "Cheerleader" singer Omi.
