Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by the band in New York City with:

Espionage, who are a Norwegian production duo comprising Espen Lind and Amund Bjørklund. Their other credits include Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable," Chris Brown's "With You" and Train's Hey Soul Sister."

Jamie Scott, who is a British songwriter best known for co-writing many of One Direction's tunes including their hit single, "Story of My Life." His other credits include Enrique Iglesias' "Heartbeat", Michael Kiwanuka's "Home Again" and Matt Cardle and Mel C's "Loving You."
  • The Vamps offered fans nine different editions of the tune including a version with Pixie Lott and a Nashville Mix. Each Vamp also recorded their own interpretation.
  • The Vamps told MTV UK that this song had a big influence on the sound of their debut album. "We really enjoyed making 'Can We Dance,' but with 'Wild Heart' we kind of experimented more with musical genre in the sense that we added a banjo and mandolin," James revealed. "We like to try and push ourselves into directions to try new things really and we've gone for more of a folky vibe so we hope people like it. We like to think it's a feel good song I guess."

Bradley added: "Wild Heart has kind of influenced the rest of the album sound almost just because it was such a key song for us."
