Songfacts®:

  • The Veronicas are Australian twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso. This song was taken from the girls' sophomore album, Hook Me Up.
  • The twins' wrote this raunchy number with their long-time collaborator Toby Gad. German songwriter Gad's other credits include Beyoncé's "If I Were a Boy" and Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry." Each day Gad would drive over to Lisa and Jessica's Hollywood Hills home, where he'd set up a makeshift studio. Jessica said to The Herald Sun "It was really great. Toby works on a simplified set-up on his Mac computer. It takes all the pressure out of being in a recording studio. We were able to take our time and get it right and not stress about time ticking.''
  • Many months before Katy Perry sung about kissing a girl, the Veronicas stirred up a fuss when they expressed a similar desire on this song. Lisa told The Herald Sun: "Yeah, there's a sexual undertone to that song, but when we were writing it we were thinking about having fun, going to a club, being on the dancefloor. You can interpret it how you like." Jess added: "We have boyfriends. It's not necessarily saying 'I want to kiss a girl.' It's about doing what you want."
