Songfacts®:

  • The View frontman Kyle Falconer is married to writer and musician Laura Wilde. They have been together since the mid-2010s and have two children together, Wylde Elizabeth (born 2017) and Winnie (born 2019). Here, Falconer conveys a message of gratitude to all the women in his life.

"I was in LA and I had the verse and the chorus and came up with that line and thought it might be a bit cheesy but it's the way you deliver a song that can make it un-cheesy," he told The Sun. "I wanted to pay homage to all the females in my life. I've got Laura, I've got the two girls and my sisters who are all pretty much the most important people in my life. And with my mental health struggles, I'm just saying thanks to the women for helping me."
  • Kyle Falconer wrote "Woman Of The Year" with The View bassist Kieren Webster and guitarist Pete Reilly, alongside Pete Green (Yo La Tengo's "Before We Stopped To Think," Llunr's "Sirens"). Youth (The Verve, The Cult) produced the track.
  • The View released "Woman Of The Year" as a single from their sixth album, Exorcism of Youth. Its title playfully nods to their spiritual guru-producer, Youth, but also signifies a deeper exorcism - a shedding of youthful skins and a bold step towards a wiser future.
