Songfacts®:

  • This song features the frontman of the band Daughtry, Chris Daughtry. The American Idol finalist and Theory of a Dead Man share a producer in Howard Benson, who hooked up the collaboration. Frontman Tyler Connolly said of Daughtry to Live Daily, whom he's only spoken to on the phone: "He's super down-to-earth. He's really nice. He's from North Carolina... I don't know how to describe him. He's a rock guy. He listens to the same kind of stuff that I do. I think they need more people like him representing the scene."
  • Scars & Souvenirs comes from a line in this break-up song. Connolly told Artist Direct that the title fits the record perfectly. He explained: "The "scars" are emotional wounds that you've had through life. There are some songs on this record people can listen to and be like, 'Man, that's gripping, that's definitely like an emotional scar that I got growing up.' 'Souvenirs' connote happy times—things you come away with and the good memories that you hold on to. You can listen to the songs and think, 'Oh, that reminds me of when I was on tour or summer vacation.'"
