This is the title track of the third album released by the British band These New Puritans. Frontman Jack Barnett explained the album name to NME: "'Field Of Reeds' is something from the Egyptian Book Of The Dead," he said. "It's the equivalent of heaven, but where it differs is that you live the same day over and over. Eternally."
During the recording of Field of Reeds, These New Puritans worked extensively with classical musicians and singers. A total of 46 people were credited as playing an instrument or singing as well as a hawk handler and glazier. NME commented to Barnett that it must have been an expensive, paying 46 musicians. He responded: "It's better than spending it on 46 guitars or something."
