  • Thomas Rhett married his childhood sweetheart Lauren in 2012 and since then she's been the muse for a number of his songs, including "Die a Happy Man" and "Star of the Show." On "Dream You Never Had," he sings of his gratitude for the sacrifices Lauren has made so he can pursue the career he loves.
  • I know it's been hard... Oh, but I couldn't do one show without you
    Crowds have been crazy
But, baby, I'm missin' you bad
    Just wanna say thank you
For livin' this dream I know you never had

Rhett told ABC News: "That song really is somewhat of an apology and a thank you to Lauren, for just riding out this chaotic lifestyle we call the music business together, because it's not easy."
  • Lauren has no background in show business (she is a trained nurse), but her husband has persuaded her to appear in a few videos. She did not envision her life in the spotlight. "This is the life that the Lord has put in front of us, and we're gonna get after it and take it day by day and learn from each other every day," Thomas said.
  • Thomas Rhett wrote the song with his father, Rhett Akins, along with Jesse Frasure and Ashley Gorley. It wasn't an easy song to write, but Rhett was pleased with the result, saying his fans "definitely need to hear" the tune.
