Songfacts®:

  • The title track of T.I.'s Paperwork, this is one of three songs on the set to feature vocals by Pharrell Williams. The Atlanta rapper's longtime collaborator also served as the album's executive producer.

T.I. told Revolt TV: "Pharrell is the first A-list producer that I was afforded the opportunity of working with and it wasn't because my budget afforded it, but it was because he heard something in me [that] was like, 'Man I need to work with this kid. And every album [since then] we've worked together."
  • T.I. details in his first verse spending time in the Charles Disco bar with his gangster uncle when he was 5 years old. The rapper recounts observing his Uncle Quent selling drugs before later on in the song recalling getting into the game himself.

T.I. also alludes to his uncle not being around for a decade. That was because Uncle Quent was arrested for drug and weapon charges and jailed for ten years, something that the rapper previously touched on during his Paper Trail track, "You Ain't Missin' Nothin'."
