Songfacts®:

  • Singer-songwriter Tina Dico was born in 1977, exactly half a century after Noël Coward wrote "A Room With A View," and four years after he died. It remains to be seen if she has even heard of Coward, but the title of his popular standard had already long become a cliché, and this track has more in common with Al Stewart's uptempo "Bedsitter Images." Like him, Dico moved to London where she lived in virtual isolation, and spent much time staring out of her window reflecting on the past and pontificating on the future. This is one of the songs that came out of that self-imposed isolation. Unlike Stewart, Dico had already experienced her first taste of fame, in her native Denmark, and at least one unsatisfactory relationship, as evinced by this soft and intensely personal acoustic number about a former lover who apparently didn't quite come up to scratch. >>>
