Songfacts®:

  • The songs on Jubilee Road are drawn from Tom Odell's own life and many were inspired by the neighbors and local community during a spell when he lived in east London. (Jubilee Street is a fictional name but is based on a real street). He considers "You're Going To Break My Heart Tonight" to be the saddest moment on the record. Odell explained to The Sun:

"I wrote this song about the scene of a romantic break up on Jubilee Road. It's night time, there's a cab outside, there's a suitcase laid out on the bed. She is leaving. And no words can make it any easier. It tugs at the old heartstrings."
