Songfacts®:

  • Although he had previously recorded with Café Society, "2-4-6-8 Motorway" was Tom Robinson's first single in his own right. Unlike most of his early material, this uptempo, commercial track has no particular political message other than the usual one of the freedom of the open road as espoused in many songs and a good few "road movies."

With Robinson on bass and vocal, and Danny Kustow on lead guitar, it was released on the EMI label backed by "I Shall Be Released" and also featured on his debut album. >>>
