  • "Llywyn Onn" is a very famous ancient Welsh harp melody which has many sets of lyrics. It is included in Volume I of the 1862 collection Welsh Melodies, With Welsh And English Poetry, by John Jones, Esq. (Talhairn), and Thomas Oliphant, Esq...Complete in Two Volumes, By Addison, Hollier and Lucas of London.

    Herein, the Welsh poetry is - as with the rest of the book - by Tailharn [John Jones (1810-70)]; according to the authors: 'This Melody was introduced into The Beggar's Opera in 1728 to the words "Cease your funning."' The first published version (without words) dates to 1802 by Edward Jones (The King's Harpist).
