Songfacts®:

  • This boastful track finds Travis Scott flaunting his luxury Dodge car, frequent appearances on magazine covers, and affording exclusive goods customized to his taste.
  • The song title references Scott's security team.

I couldn't do none of this by myself
With mafia, they in the tuck

The rapper also shouts out his head of security

You come with two when it's late, know the brown one is my fav'
Then Mike Brown gon' walk you out
  • The song features uncredited vocals from J. Cole, who assists on the chorus. The pair previously worked together when they both guested on Young Thug's 2019 track "The London."
  • Scott released the track as one half of a double-single along with "Escape Plan." Jahaan Sweet and Boi-1da's contemplative production for "Mafia" acts as a counterpart to the other song's trap beat.
  • The Houston rapper dropped the two songs on November 5, 2021, ahead of his third-annual Astroworld Festival. The event in Scott's home city ended in tragedy when the crowd of 50,000 surged toward the front of the stage during his headlining set. Panic and chaos ensued, generating a crush that killed ten people and injured many more.
