Songfacts®:

  • Tribes are a British four-piece rock band from Camden, London. Formed in 2009 in a London pub, the band consists of vocalist Johnny Lloyd, guitarist Dan White, bassist Jim Cratchley and drummer Miguel Demelo. For their sixth gig in June 2010, Tribes were asked to support the celebrated American band the Pixies at the London Troxy. This is their debut single, which was made available for download on 11 July 2011.
  • The song is a tale of confused sexual preferences, though not about lesbian love as many people think. Lloyd explained to The Sun: "It's just about being free and not taking in other people's opinions about what you should do with your life."
