Songfacts®:

  • Trip Shakespeare were a Minneapolis-based alternative rock band active during the '80s. They were a part of the Twin Cities' alternative movement that included bands like the Replacements and the Suburbs. In this guitar-based rocker, the band tells the story of the "Toolmaster," a creamery worker from the northern town of Brainerd who conquers the twin towns with his ability to play his guitar "like a natural disaster." The Toolmaster's time in the urban Minnesota music scene is, however, cut short when he is drawn back to his working life at the Buckeye Creamery. >>
