Songfacts®:

  • "Through A Screen" is Ty Myers' postcard from the modern world, where courtship involves more Wi-Fi than wine. Myers says he's not much of a night owl, but suddenly his early-to-bed discipline has gone out the window thanks to a new crush he hasn't even met in person. Instead of candlelit dinners, the romance blooms over nighttime FaceTime marathons, where confessions and revelations spill out against the glow of a phone screen.
  • Penned solo by Myers, he wraps his tale not in twangy guitars or barroom fiddles, but in piano and lush orchestral strings, crooning in a style closer to a jazz lounge than a honky-tonk. It's a fresh coat of paint on what's become known as "boyfriend country": romantic, slightly dreamy songs that once gave artists like Dan + Shay, Thomas Rhett, Kane Brown, Chris Lane and Brett Young their foothold. Myers' easy-going quasi-country offerings such as "Ends Of The Earth" and "Thought It Was Love" have helped revitalize the genre.
  • Produced by Myers' go-to collaborator Brandon Hood, the track ropes in some Nashville royalty: Kris Donegan and Tom Bukovac on guitar, Bruce Bouton on steel, Mark Hill on bass, Gordon Mote on keyboards, Eric Darken on percussion, and drummer Chris McHugh. There's also a string section arranged by Kristin Wilkinson that makes the whole affair feel downright cinematic. Many of the same players helped Myers find his footing on his breakout single "Ends Of The Earth."
