Songfacts®:

  • According to Pete Way in his autobiography A Fast Ride Out Of Here..., Obsession is the band's definitive studio album. He said he is particularly proud of "Only You Can Rock Me."

Running to 4 minutes 8 seconds, the opening track was co-written with Phil Mogg and Michael Schenker. Pete said: "I'd got the basic idea for it, a driving rocker, and being the genius that he is, Michael came up with the section halfway through – that sort of dreamy-sounding bridge and his soaring solo." >>

  • Bleepyf from EdinburghIn a video interview, Paul Raymond confirmed that Pete had come up with the first riff and Schenker had added to that as Pete described in his book, from a prone position as he often did. Raymond said he then came up with the middle eight section, although he was never credited. Raymond has also admitted elsewhere that his famous keyboard line was heavily influenced - Raymond jokingly used the word "stolen" - from Rush with whom UFO had toured.
