Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from the last Van Halen album, A Different Kind Of Truth, their only album with Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, in the lineup (he replaced Michael Anthony on bass). David Lee Roth was back on vocals, having returned in 2007.

In a Songfacts interview, Wolf said: "'Stay Frosty' was an idea Dave brought in that was completely original and not stemming from an older demo, but in terms of structure, I was the one that put it together. It was just this little acoustic ditty, and we were like, 'Well, what do we do? We're not sure.' I was the one who actually structured the entire song on how it would go."
  • A musical sibling of "Ice Cream Blues," both songs start with a Dave Lee Roth acoustic intro before bursting into a souped-up electric boogie around the minute mark.
  • The track was first heard on the January 25, 2012 episode of CSI during a scene in a strip club.
