Songfacts®:

  • This high-energy Eurodance song was a big hit for the Dutch group Vengaboys, which is actually two girls and two guys - they're kind of a cross between Abba and The Village People, pitched up a few beats.

The masterminds behind the group are two Dutch producers: Danski and Delmundo (Wessel van Diepen and Dennis van den Driesschen). This song stood out thanks to its relentless, bonkers beat; it was a #1 hit in Belgium and made a strong showing across Europe. It was also the group's biggest hit in America, where they also charted with "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom" at #84.
  • Americans know this as "the Six Flags song," thanks to a 2004 advertising campaign for the Six Flags amusement parks featuring an elderly man in a tuxedo (Mr. Six) who pulls up in a bus, blares the song, and does dance moves that have to be seen to be believed. He then gathers the board and disaffected populace on the bus, where they all enjoy a day at Six Flags.

The campaign ran for two years, earning the song far more airtime through commercials than it did elsewhere.
  • This song was a plot point in the second season (2017) episode of the Netflix show Master of None, "New York, I Love You," where an after-hours pizza place becomes an impromptu dance club when someone plays the track.
  • Crazy Frog remixed this for the 2005 album Crazy Frog Presents Crazy Hits, changing the line "The Vengabus is coming" to "The Crazy Frog is coming." >>>

  • Ryan from Camarillo, CaA very popular song, in the late 1990's, within the dancing-girl bars of Angeles City, Philippines! Bar owners needed songs to "wake-up" the dancing girls after a lull in customers, and a new influx, and this song was a favorite.
