Songfacts®:

  • This track was produced by Pharrell Williams. Skateboard P also provides the vocals for the chorus while Pusha T raps the last verse. The song came together the second time Mensa and Pharrell hit the studio together. Mensa explained the story behind Pharrel's contribution to Genius:

"He was making a beat that was different than the 'OMG' beat. We started vibing on that. I was freestyling some s--t. Kicking some ideas. He played me a couple things, and the 'OMG' beat was one of them. I was like 'Yo that's crazy!' So, I did something to the other beat, but it wasn't completely right. I didn't really feel it that much. So when my man Malik Yusef came in the studio and I brought up the 'OMG' beat, I was playing in between both of those things. I was like, 'What you think? Which one should I f--k with?' Then niggas heard the 'OMG' beat and the whole studio just lit up. So I was just like, 'Man, let me rock with that.'

I had just did that first verse and it was just gas. I played it for P, he loved it. I always felt like it gave me a Wu Tang energy. And it was really a moment for me to get my bars off. It felt like a very classic record. So, I knew we had something there."
