Songfacts®:

  • The first single from American alternative rock group Wilco's eighth album, The Whole Love was initially made available at the band's Solid Sound Festival, at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art from June 24 to 26, 2011. It marked the first ever release on the band's own label dBpm.
  • Frontman Jeff Tweedy almost called the album "Get Well Soon Everybody" after a lyric from this song.
  • The song samples a snatch of vocal from The Stooges' "TV Eye" ("Brother"). Tweedy explained to Mojo magazine: "The lyric, 'The Magna Carta's on a Slim Jim… blood brother,' needed more than I could give it. Fortunately we live in the 21st century and things like this can happen."
