Eyes Wide Open

Album: Clan Destiny (2006)

Songfacts®:

  • Running to around 5 minutes 10 seconds, "Eyes Wide Open" is more reminiscent in places of a Thin Lizzy twin lead guitar than a Wishbone Ash style, and what a terrific way to open Clan Destiny or indeed any album. Needless to say it is excellent live, when any lineup of Wishbone Ash is always at its best.

Produced by lead guitarist Andy Powell like the rest of the album, in a September 2006 interview with David Randall, he said it "has a shuffle feel which is a style we often dip into and actually a tricky groove to pull off. It has a great twin lead guitar riff and interesting ascending vocal harmony running through it. It sets the tone nicely for the album."
  • Not to be confused with the 2010 track of the same name by Goyte, it might in a very general way be said to be about the same subject: philosophy. Eyes Wide Open: True Tales Of A Wishbone Ash Warrior is also the title of Powell's 2015 autobiography. >>>
