Songfacts®:

  • "(In All Of My Dreams) You Rescue Me" or simply "You Rescue Me," has been described as "a dreamy ballad with laid-back guitar in [stark] contrast to the previous and following tracks." At the end of the song there is the sound of crickets.
  • Andy Powell's wife Pauline contributed heavily to the lyrics. Although it was not released as an official Ash single, excerpts of it did appear on a flexidisc that was issued with the New England tour programme in November 1976 along with excerpts from "Outward Bound", "Runaway" and "Mother Of Pearl".
  • "(In All Of My Dreams) You Rescue Me" is a group composition, which at that time meant Martin Turner, Andy Powell, Laurie Wisefield and Steve Upton - and Pauline Powell as noted above. Running to 6:13, it is the second track on the October 1976 New England album on the MCA label. >>>
