Songfacts®:

  • This is one of the more literal songs in the X catalog, recounting the struggles that come with touring on a budget. "It was about being on the road and sharing a room with a roadie or two every night in some s--tty motel room somewhere," Exene Cervenka told Songfacts. "And never having a room to yourself. And bickering over that. No privacy."
  • The album was produced by Ray Manzarek of The Doors, who also shot a video for the song. The clip just shows the band performing the song with some motel signage cut in. Manzarek did a more intricate video for the track "The Hungry Wolf."
