Songfacts®:

  • This acoustic country ballad tells of a lovestruck man who having let everyone down in his life is pleading with his girl Annie to not give up on him and to give him another chance. Both this song and another Uncaged track, "Goodbye In Her Eyes," started out with Brown's songwriting partner Wyatt Durrette, and according to ZBB multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook, it is a true story. The other songwriters are Zac Brown, Sonia Leigh, an artist on the band's own Southern Ground Records label, and country music singer-songwriter John Pierce.
  • This was the first Hot 100 hit to contain the name Annie in the title since Roger Daltrey's "Avenging Annie" and Heart's "Dreamboat Annie," which both featured in the chart in 1977. The most successful such single was John Denver's "Annie's Song," which stayed at #1 for two weeks in 1974.
  • The music video, directed by Cole Cassell, uses clips from guitarist Coy Bowles' wedding video mixed with shots of the band on the road. Bowles told Taste of Country about the big day: "The sun and weather could not have been more perfect. Kylie, my wife, really out did herself creatively on the vibe and look of the wedding. She had a vision of what she wanted the wedding to look like... we were really able to pull of this relaxing, gypsy fantasy land of a wedding."
