Songfacts®:

  • Here, Zara Larsson is in the early stage of a romantic relationship where she and the other person are still working out what they are to one another. The Swede wants to enjoy the experience rather than getting bogged down with examining her feelings.
  • I don't wanna talk about love
I just wanna keep us right here in the moment
Why you gotta go get lost in motion

Zara Larsson explained the snappy song is about when two people are falling in love but one of them starts analyzing it. "That specific window is so beautiful and fragile, as soon as you start asking 'are we doing this?' or 'how do you feel?' for some people that ruins the magic," she said. "'Talk About Love' is savoring that moment before you have to decide."
  • Young Thug spits a guest verse in which he adopts a similar outlook as Larsson. His love interest annoys him because he wants to enjoy the moment while she wants to talk about her feelings. The rap lothario encourages the girl, assuring her he is genuine and will make her right as their relationship progresses.
  • This is the first time Zara Larsson and Young Thug have worked together.
  • Larsson released this as the third single from Poster Girl, following "Love Me Land" and "Wow." All three songs have a similar theme of finding love, but while the Swedish pop star co-penned "Love Me Land," she didn't contribute to the writing of the other two.
  • Young Thug co-wrote the song with Amy Allen (Halsey's "Without Me," Selena Gomez' "Back to You," Harry Styles' "Adore You"), Dewain Whitmore (Martin Garrix's "Ocean") and the track's producer, Mike Sabath (Liam Payne's "Familiar," Jonas Brothers "Hesitate").
  • Larsson co-directed the song's music video with the New York conceptual artist Ryder Ripps. The clip shows the singer performing an emotive bedroom dance routine with her love interest.
