  • Goodbye, hard life
Don't cry, would you let it ride?
    Good bye, hard life
Don't cry, would you let it ride?

    You can't see the mornin'
But I can see the light
Try, try, try let it ride
    While you've been out runnin'
I've been waitin' half the night
Try, try, try let it ride

And would you cry (goodbye) if I told you that I lied (I lied)
And would you say goodbye (don't cry)
Or would you let it ride?
And would you cry (goodbye) if I told you that I lied (I lied)
And would you say goodbye (don't cry)
Or would you let it ride?

Seems my life is not complete
    I never see you smile
Try, try, try let it ride
Baby, you want the forgivin' kind
And that's just not my style
Try, try, try let it ride

And would you cry (goodbye) if I told you that I lied (I lied)
And would you say goodbye (don't cry)
Or would you let it ride?
And would you cry (goodbye) if I told you that I lied (I lied)
And would you say goodbye (don't cry)
Or would you let it ride?

Oh, I've been doin' things worthwhile
    You've been bookin' time
Try, try, try let it ride

And would you cry (goodbye) if I told you that I lied (I lied)
And would you say goodbye (don't cry)
Or would you let it ride?
And would you cry (goodbye) if I told you that I lied (I lied)
And would you say goodbye (don't cry)
Or would you let it ride?

    Would you let it ride?
    Would you let it ride?
    Would you let it ride?
    Would you let it ride?

Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride (yeah)
Try, try, try let it ride (oh)
Try, try, try let it ride (oh)

Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride (yes)
Try, try, try let it ride (oh, oh)
Try, try, try let it ride

Try, try, try let it ride (yeah)
    Would you let it ride?
Would you let it ride? (Yes)

  • Toni From Georgia from Georgia, UsaWho sings lead on this song? It says that Turner sings all background vocals but who sings lead?
  • Dallas from Winnipeg MbRobert, he saying that she wants the forgiving kind and he replies that it's not his style so using aren't wouldn't make sense.
  • Robert from DetroitEvery song lyric that I see says the line is "Maybe you WANT the forgiving kind..." It makes much more sense when Taylor growls, "Maybe you AREN'T" the forgiving kind..." What do others think?
  • Birdman_euston from London, UkAbout the Doobie Brothers ripping off this song's guitar riff for "Long Train Runnin'": The Doobies' side of the story is that after one of their gigs, BTO came backstage to learn the technique from them! NB "The Captain and Me'' was released nine months before "Bachman-Turner Overdrive II''.
  • Jim from West Palm Beach, FlMost of BTO's hit songs were based on current phrases. Let it Ride, Takin care of Business, Lookin Out for # One.
  • Chuck from South Deerfield, Ma, MaHmmm, I wonder if the trucker story was really meant for roll on down the highway, would make more sense since he talks about truckers, and letting it roll. Let it ride is about a relationship
  • Randy from Portage, InYes Don. I actually have that self titled Ironhorse album. His bandmates wer Tom Sparks,John Pierce, and Mike Baird. It was released in 1979
  • Cory from Olds, AbRandy Bachman was a member of Guess Who, but left the group shortly after the success of American Woman because Burton and the rest of the band were sliding heavily into the drug scene of the 60s, and Randy is Mormon, so he wanted out. The only people he could find to play with him were his brothers and Fred Turner. Randy was told, after he left Guess Who, that he would never make it "straight and clean" in the rock world, so he was very proud of his accomplishment of being one of the greatest rock acts of all time.
  • Charles from Glenside, PaBachman was for sure. I don't recall if Turner was or not.
  • Don from Indianapolis, InGreat song...weren't Bachman and Turner members of the Guess Who? And does anyone out there remember when Randy Bachman fronted a group called Ironhorse?
  • Matthew from Milford, MaDon't wanna release that Iblis...
  • Matthew from Milford, MaNo, seriously, I think the lyrics for this song coincide with Sonic's story in "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the Xbox 360? I know that it's just a coincidence, but it's still rather interesting... wait, were you agreeing with me? But, anyway, this is definitely an awesome song.
  • Guy from Woodinville, WaBTO could create such powerful, driving sounds--just the most powerful chords ever. Great stuff!
  • Matthew from Milford, MaIs it just me, or do the lyrics for this song coincide with Sonic's story in "Sonic the Hedgehog" for the Xbox 360?
  • Johnny from Los Angeles, CaGod I really wanted this song on songfacts. It's my favorite by BTO.
