  • The times are tough now, just getting tougher
This whole world is rough, it's just getting rougher
Cover me, come on baby, cover me
Well I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me

Now promise me, baby, you won't let them find us
Hold me in your arms, let's let our love blind us
Cover me, shut the door and cover me
I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me
    Hey

Outside's the rain, the driving snow
I can hear the wild wind blowing
Turn out the light, bolt the door
I ain't going out there no more

This whole world is out there just trying to score
I've seen enough I don't wanna see anymore
Cover me, come on in and cover me
I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me
    Yeah

Outside's the rain, the driving snow
I can hear the wild wind blowing
Turn out the light, bolt the door
I ain't going out there no more

This whole world is out there just trying to score
I've seen enough I ain't gonna see anymore
Cover me, wrap your arms around me, cover me
Well, I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me
Ah, looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me
Yeah, I'm looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me

    Come on baby
    Come on baby
    Oh no, no, no
    Come on baby

  • George from Vancouver, Canadawhat is the meaning behind the lyrics/song?
  • Hedrek from Los Angeles, CaHate to be that guy, but I think Bruce's instincts were correct. This is one of the most formulaic and rote songs he recorded before 91 when about half of them started fitting that description. I know: hater. Just my H.O.
  • Heine from Sarpsborg, NorwayIf you like Cover Me, you should have heard the version he played in Oslo on July 7 2008. the guitar solo he closed with was out of this world.
  • Mark from Worcester, MiSpringsteen had to be talked into including this on "Born in The USA." He thought the song was to simple and to obvious. It became the high energy opener to the second half of the Born in The USA shows.
  • Sarah from Kennewick, WaLove, love, love it. Underrated for sure!
  • Mike from Hueytown , AlWhat a cool song. Doesn't get enough play on the radio. Why I know not. Born in the USA gets beat to death while so many other great Springsteen songs get left out of the mix.
  • Emilio from Sydney. This is a great rock song...i love it!!!
This song is so far underated by many fans...
