  • I'm staring out into the night
    Trying to hide the pain
I'm going to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing
And the pain you feel is a different kind of pain

    I'm going home
Back to the place where I belong
And where your love has always been enough for me
    I'm not running from
No, I think you got me all wrong
I don't regret this life I chose for me
But these places and these faces are getting old
    So I'm going home
    Well, I'm going home

The miles are getting longer it seems
The closer I get to you
I've not always been the best man or friend for you
    But your love remains true
    And I don't know why
You always seem to give me another try

    So I'm going home
Back to the place where I belong
And where your love has always been enough for me
    I'm not running from
No, I think you got me all wrong
I don't regret this life I chose for me
But these places and these faces are getting old

Be careful what you wish for
'Cause you just might get it all
You just might get it all
And then some you don't want
Be careful what you wish for
'Cause you just might get it all
You just might get it all, yeah

    Oh, well I'm going home
Back to the place where I belong
And where your love has always been enough for me
    I'm not running from
No, I think you got me all wrong
I don't regret this life I chose for me
But these places and these faces are getting old
I said these places and these faces are getting old
So I'm going home, I'm going home Writer/s: Christopher A. Daughtry

  • Overhand Right from Middle Class Usa One of his best songs for sure.

    “Careful what you wish for,
‘cause you just might get it all,
    Then some you don’t want.”

Makes me think of that scene in The Firm with Tom Cruise when his girl tells him “let’s pretend we’re back in our old apartment in Boston and we found an extra $20. We can call out for pizza.” Lot of truth to that.

My very first job back in Sacramento paid me $36,000 per year. The next one paid me $45,000 per year. Now I make 4-5x that depending on the year.

I got more money and more problems. I got more health problems too. Heart attacks, chronic depression, back issues.
And I take care of myself!
Lawyers are perfectionists and most are driven. At least this one is.

Too bad time goes too fast.
I was happier then. Well, yes and no.
I’m not really that happy to begin with, I just do enough to get by. I always wondered: “what are you so happy about?” with certain people. Mostly white people with their country club memberships and parents’ money for help.
    That’d be nice.

He’s right, be careful what you wish for.

    Great song.
  • Wandoba John from UgandaIn the middle of the night today 4th that i have heard the song after a break sleep on a certain night local Radio Station and really a mighty song!!.
Forced me to get on google handle and download it and hence sharing it with the world here. Thanks to #Daughtey For such a song.
creates in me a Christian message of Heaven and also A soldier after a long battle end and decides to get home for a leave Or Just Retires from the service and decides to get Home. So emotional and memorative song sounds Brand new.
  • Lisa from Visalia, California I’ve just recently discovered Daughtry. Yeah, I know...it’s 2020 but I’ve battled several serious health issues back to back (spinal fusion, gallbladder removal and partial stomach removal due to ulcers, kidney cancer, and a brain tumor) and had no energy or time indulge in discovering new singers, bands, songs. I’ve just recently started to show physical signs of recovery and that’s when I happened upon the gem, “Home.” Now, I’m hooked on music that’s 10+ years old but sounds brand new to me!
  • Margie from Hanford, Ca.I chose this song for my older brothers funeral. He struggled with drug addiction all his life. He was a hard worker and like any Mom my Mother loved him unconditionally. My Mom passed and it was really hard for all of us. My brother died in an accident 9 months later and i just think everything this song says is him. He was tired of everything and missed our Mother so he went home to be with her in Heaven. She couldn't leave her baby alone. Love Daughtry.
  • Danielle from MassachusettsI always thought of this song as someone who's been through a rough patch of some sort and are going back home to get themselves together. Even though they've hit a rough patch they're determined to stay where they are and don't want people criticizing them for it because it's their choice. Daughtry's one of my favorite artists and this is one of my favorite songs by them.
  • Jennifer from Memphis, TnEven though Chris wrote this before he became famous, I'm sure the words have a great meaning for his life now.
  • John from Niagarafalls, NyHome refers to heaven in this song and so many others
  • Cait from Pittsburgh, Pathis song reminds me of a soldier who was deployed and is coming back home. im a soldier and this song is how i feel after being away. especially the "I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me" part. i dont regret joining, and when i come home its not like im running away from it all... its just nice to come home...
  • Mixermatt from Bloomington, Mn"Home" Is a great song. Christain Radio stations have also picked up on this song
  • Fulu from Limpopo, South Africai first heard this song 5 yrs ago in the coca-cola advert and i just happened to like since then.
  • Lori from Sturgis, Sdthis is a great song, it makes me a little homesick.
  • Summer from Nashville, TnPersonally, this song reminds me of a young boy that I had known who died from cancer. It brings back sad memories, but I love the song.
"Don't regret this life just for me."
  • Ashtin from Canada, Canadaalot of people slow dance to it lol, wher ei am, its like the #1 slow song
  • Arthur from Lakeland, FlThey use this song for many tributes saying that the person or people that died are going "home" to God.
  • Selena from Griffin, GaIf I am not mistaken, Chris wrote this song for his child who was being kept from him. Beautiful song!
