  • It's in your style
the way you look up at me and smile
    It's in your way
something that simple words can't explain

    It's in everything you said
    It's in everything you did
And it's gone right to my head
The truth of the matter is...

I'm doing the best I ever did
Being with you makes all the difference in the world
Ever since I was a kid
I prayed that I would find, the perfect girl
The truth of the matter is, I did.

    I must confess
I never thought I'd get out of that mess
    And you're partly to blame
for turning this spark into this flame

    It's in everything you said
    It's in everything you did
And it's gone right to my head
The truth of the matter is...

I'm doing the best I ever did
Being with you makes all the difference in the world
Ever since I was a kid
I prayed that I would find, the perfect girl
The truth of the matter is...

If you hold on to me
and I hold on to you
Look at all that we can be
Look at all that we can do

    It's in everything you said
    It's in everything you did
And it's gone right to my head
The truth of the matter is...

I'm doing the best I ever did
Being with you makes all the difference in the world
Ever since I was a kid
I prayed that I would find, the perfect girl
The truth of the matter is...

    I did

  • Joan from Boston, MaI think it's actually pretty nice that a guy can feel that way about his wife and express it. I don't find it pathetic at all. You can't base your assessment of someone's personal life on the lyrics of a song. It's actually a refreshing, fun song. People do make an impact and a difference in the lives of others. What's wrong with taking notice of that and pointing it out? Obviously his wife has made an impact on his life and he has no problem saying it. This is more like a pop-country style song. Doesn't really sound like Dire Straits to me.
