The Glass

Album: But Here We Are (2023)

  • I had a vision of you, and just like that
I was left to live without it, left to live without it
I found a version of love, and just like that
I was left to live without it, left to live without it

Waiting for this storm to pass
Waiting on this side of the glass
But I see my reflection in you
    See your reflection in me
    How could it be?
    How could it be?

    There is something between us
    Between me and you
    There is something between us
    I see right through
    I see right through

I had a version of home, and just like that
I was left to live without it, left to live without it
I had a person I loved, and just like that
I was left to live without it, left to live without it

Waiting for this storm to pass
Waiting on this side of the glass
But I see my reflection in you
    See your reflection in me
    How can it be?
    How can it be?

    There is something between us
    Between me and you
    There is something between us
    I see right through
    I see right through

    There is something between us
    Between me and you
    There is something between us
    I see right through
    I see right through

I had a vision of you, and just like that
I was left to live without it, left to live without it

  • Rich from Draper UtahWhere did you film the glass video with the mountains and ice maybe salt. Was it at the salt flats in Utah?
  • Tjhs from AlabamaIf you listen it seems it’s about both. A change in home, a person who is gone and “he’s” not around.

As a mom I can see this in the growing up of our children (them married), the loss of a son or other loved one and how life is just not what we expected when we were in high school. We were young an invisible then. Yes, we would grow up one day and do grown up things. However, we would be real old when bad stuff happened to us. Yeah, the joke was on us. We will survive and go on for those that aren’t here anymore.
  • Mom from UsaNo, not about Tyler. It is about his mother. It's about how he would visit her in the hospital and they had this glass between them during visits. He would see his reflection in the glass as he looked and talked to his mom and vice versa. The whole song is about his mom. The whole album is dealing with his pain and heartache of loosing BOTH of the important people in his life. But this song specifically speaks of his mom.
  • Jaymi from Boyton Beach FloridaI knew this song wasn’t about some woman like a lot of people assume. It screamed his heartache and love for Taylor. RIP.
