  • Love, exciting and new
    Come aboard, were expecting you
    Love, lifes sweetest reward
Let it flow, it floats back to you

Love Boat soon will be making another run
The Love Boat promises something for everyone
    Set a course for adventure
Your mind on a new romance

    Love wont hurt anymore
Its an open smile on a friendly shore
    Yes love...
    Its love...

Love Boat soon will be making another run
The Love Boat promises something for everyone
    Set a course for adventure
Your mind on a new romance

    Love wont hurt anymore
Its an open smile on a friendly shore
    Its love...

  • Pat from St. Paul, MnOn the comedy show SCTV, they did a talk show sketch where the guest was Chuck Mangione (played by Rick Moranis). When the host asks Chuck if his intro music was the Love Boat theme (it wasn't, it was "Feels So Good"), he says, "No, that's my song. I didn't write The Love Boat theme." The host takes off Chuck's hat to reveal he's bald and tells him, "Get out of here! I wanted the guy who wrote The Love Boat theme!" He should have been talking to Paul Williams.
  • David Klassy from Kalispell, Mt, UsaI want to know what the lead instrument is that plays a lot of the melody in the closing theme for the first several seasons. I was born in 1975 and I know I asked my parents in my childhood when we'd watch the reruns in syndication while the new episodes ran weekly. The closing music on the weekly episodes by then did not include that instrument anymore so I assume it must have been a "'70s thing". Hearing it these days with a Love Boat channel on Pluto TV is such a comfort thing for me now. I'm a disabled early-retired music teacher, of all things, so I should know what this instrument is. I'm guessing it's something electric and string, the knowledge of neither of which was required for teacher certification nor was I ever interested in learning or playing them. This page popped up in my search and I did learn some great new things here. I didn't expect this song to be in Songfacts as I used to use this site a lot with my pop music appreciation courses with my older students. Thank you for what you do!
  • Steve S from Blackpool, UkI would love to know if there was ever an interim version of this song recorded before Jack Jones recorded it. There has been a guy working cruise ships for years, dining out on the fact that he was "the original singer of the Love Boat theme," before Jack recorded it. I've scoured everywhere and can find nothing to suggest that this is remotely true.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyJack Jones' "Love Boat Theme" never made Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; but in 1980 it did peak at #30 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
Between 1962 and 1968 he had twenty Top 100 records; two made the Top 20, "Wives and Lovers" {at #14 in 1964} and "The Race is On"* {reached #15 in 1965}...
He has won two Grammy Awards and both were for 'Best Pop Male Performance'; the first in 1962 for "Lollipops and Roses" and again in 1964 for "Wives and Lovers"...
Jack Jones, born John Allan Jones, will celebrate his 78th birthday come next January 14th {2016}...
    * The original version of "The Race is On" was by George Jones {no relation} and peaked at #3 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart.
  • Felicia from Milwaukee, WiI like this song, because it has that Soul Train back-in-the-day 70s throw back beat. So what I do is dance to it. The one I am playing now the 1978 version of the show, Love Boat.
  • Jennifer Harris from Grand Blanc, MiI think he was in Airplane 2 the sequel, and he was singing The Love Boat Theme. When Robert Hayes escaped from a mental hospital.I love the Love Boat Theme.
  • Jeff from Austin, TxThis is the coolest song ever. I've sung it at many a karaoke bar.
  • Pete from Nowra, AustraliaJack Jones featured in a small cameo in the movie Flying High 2....the scene was a prison break , they shone the spot light on the prison wall and there was jack singing this song ??????
