  • Some kind of evidence
    Some kind of reason
    Why I can't find a way
    To begin my life

    Somewhere in this dying day
If I can only find a way for my escape
I find it hard to concentrate with all my past mistakes

    To begin my life

(I-i-i-i can't feel my faith, can't recall my crime
I think I sealed my fate, along the way I may have lost my mind
I guess we're all damaged in our own way, alone in our own way
    Distant headlights, desolate highway
I can't feel my faith, can't recall my crime
I think I sealed my fate, along the way I may have lost my mind
I guess we're all damaged in our own way, alone in our own way
    Distant headlights, desolate highway)

    Sun doesn't rise at all
Who knows how far I'll fall
    Sun doesn't rise at all
Who knows how far I'll fall

    With eyes wide open
(Can't recall my crime, think I sealed my fate)
I can watch my world evolve
(Alone in our own way, I think I sealed my fate)
    Nothing left to die for
(Can't recall my crime, I think I sealed my fate)
Thoughts inside can make me crawl
    (Think I sealed my fate)
Make me drop down on my knees
Break me down until I question me
    Darkness can't destroy my drive

    Sun doesn't rise at all
Who knows how far I'll fall
    Sun doesn't rise at all
    Welcome my downfall
    (Sun doesn't rise at all)

(Somewhere in this dying day, as I plan my great escape
I find it hard to concentrate while you think you control me now
Fade and falter, empty altar, all I gave I pray it makes me whole
I think the brink's around the corner
There's an error in my soul

I can't feel my faith, can't recall my crime
I think I sealed my fate, along the way I may have lost my mind
I guess we're all damaged in our own way, alone in our own way
    Distant headlights, desolate highway

    Sun doesn't rise at all
Who knows how far I'll fall
    Sun doesn't rise at all
Who knows how far I'll fall

    I can't feel my faith
    Can't recall my crime
Damaged in our own way, alone in our own way

  • A NobodyMushroomhead if I examine them close enough is the most religious s--t I ever heard ...they r focused on the ppl that r in a bad place in ther life ... singing about the negative s--t then tossing in the inspiration to overcome it....an look hard enough ther is alot of biblical s--t in ther...I actually now view them as doin gods work....I'm really surprised actually.
  • Moe from Birmingham, AlIn response to Zero from Nowhere, NJ:
Wow, this is very similar to how I interpret this song. I’m not bipolar, but I’ve suffered from severe anxiety, panic attacks, OCD (intrusive thoughts), major depression, and depersonalization disorder. My OCD was primarily religion-based (also known as Scrupulosity). It consumed me and caused so much fear and anxiety, which almost claimed my life. I wish I could say that religion didn’t negatively affect most of my childhood and early adult life—but it did. Thanks to being prescribed an SSRI, I’ve been able to manage my conditions and accept that organized religion is corrupt. It contradicts itself and causes turmoil. I was also being physically, verbally, and emotionally abused by my mother who had a “fire and brimstone” approach to religion. As early as age 7, I began questioning religion and reality. I also began questioning my own worth in the eyes of God. At age 11, I tried to take my own life because I believed that I didn’t deserve happiness nor God’s love; I began to wonder if I’m a bad person and that maybe I deserved to go to Hell. I couldn’t stand the guilt and horror anymore. I now know that the way I felt/thought was the product of abuse, corrupt religion, and untreated OCD.

I apologize to anyone reading this who may not agree. Just because I believe what I say is my truth, that does not mean I’m 100% correct. This is just my opinion based on how religion affected me personally.
  • Zero from Nowhere, NjWhen This album came out, I was suffering from chronic anxiety and questioning my belief in God, along with being bi-polar, although I didn't know it. I thought I was losing my mind. This band, and particularly this album saved my life. With their lyrics I found comfort that maybe I wasn't alone in my struggle. I now own all their albums incuding their 1st 3 independent ones, but this one holds a special place in my heart.
  • Rob from Cleveland, OhIt's funny how they were "band" (I'm assuming you mean "banned") in Cleveland, yet they still play there regularly. And if they had killed dogs, they wouldn't have been banned. They'd have gone to jail. Cruelty to animals is a crime, you know. Just goes to show that you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

More silly stories like the ones concocted about KISS and Ozzy Osbourne.
  • Dylan from Euclid, OhIn Cleveland Ohio Mushroomhead was band for killing dogs on stage and throwing them in the crowed.
  • Ian from Chilli, OhWell people the Mushroomhead/Slipknot rivalry is officially over and done with. Look up Mushroomhead's Noisecreep interview. Also, the band members are even friendly and have been seen hanging out and have talked to each other, and they both agree it is stupid. So basically anybody still bitching about the whole thing is an idiot
  • Nathan from Sydney, Australiait's so funny that if you go to a Slipknot message board mushroomhead isn't even mentioned... but go to any page about Mushroomhead and there is always someone winging about the conection between the bands and who stole what... who cares... just listen and love the music... they might mave simarlarities (masks and numbers) but their music is compleatly different
  • Alex from Goshen, InIts not just the masks that make people think slipknot stole mushroomheads image.Mushroomhead has been around since 1989.They used 2 open for gwar. N before cory taylor was ever in slipknot, when he was playing with the original stone sour, slipknot and mushroomhead played shows 2gether.AN entirely different slipknot then u see on tv. Then mushroomhead got offered a record deal from roadrunner records. BUt they turned it down because they didnt want to give up the rights to their music. But roadrunner liked the image, and "coincidentaly" 6 months later, they signed a new band with more members then average.Like mushroomhead. And wearing masks. And not only that, two of the masks where almost the same. (Pig mask, and another cant remember off the top of my head.)That band was slipknot, with new singer corey taylor.
  • Devon from Spokane, WaMy f--king religon is Slipheadism! (Slipknot and mushroomhead together!) i love dem bolth and their bolth f--king badass
  • Katie from New Knoxville, Ohhmmm... thats pretty annoying. fighting over whether or not slipknot stole their look doesnt help anyone trying to find out what this song is about.
i agree with the very first comment about facing your problems. i think its also about not waiting till things clear up, but putting faith in yourself and your beliefs to get you through whatever it is youre dealing with.
  • Corey from Richmond, VaGreat song. I prefer Mushroomhead over Slipknot Mushroomhead is more melodic and not as heavy and they put more meaning in their songs. Slipknot, all they do is scream, and scream, and scream. Slipknot sucks, Mushroomhead is better.
  • Seth from Alantis, Akdude no SlipKnoT didnt rip off Mushroomhead
    KISS wore make up 1970's
GWAR wore masks and make up in 1989
Mushroomhead 1993 wore masks and make up
    SlipKnoT 1995 wore masks
    Lordi 1996 wore masks
    Mudvayne wore masks
who copied who aprrantly then slipknot copied GWAR KISS and Mushroomhead and Mushroomhead copied GWAR and KISS
(ps i like all of the bands i listed but i like slipknot most then mushroomhead 2nd)
  • Derek from Edmonton, Canadathe best song in the world
  • Brad from Grafton, OhIt's to bad that nobody knows that Slipknot stole Mushroomheads image. Slipknot sounds more like Mushroomhead in a particular way.
  • Lars Ulrich from CopenhagenJust freaky and a bit too Slipknotish
  • Gabreya from Pine Bluff, AkI love this song. It's one of the best songs from the "Freddy vs Jason" soundtrack. I didn't think that this song was about dramatic stuff going on in people's lives. Yeah, expecially if you've been bullied. Being tortured inside and trying to find peace. I've been bullied a lot, so it's no surprise. I feel what this song is saying. Plus, it has a hot, rockin' sound to it. It's so scary yet sounds so awesome at the same time with good pace and good music notes. Mushroomhead is one of the best rock/metal groups out there!
  • Manny from Green Lane, PaTruthfully alot better then the angry people in Slipknot and the outlook on life.
  • Nick from Paramus, NjWell, maybe, but remember, Mushroomhead came first, Slipknot just signed to a major label and became famous before Mushroomhead. Though I do believe they're a bit different; Mushroomhead are much more deep thinking and philosophical than Slipknot, who are more about the raw anger. Also, Mushroomhead is more melodic while Slipknot is more speed and heaviness. I think both bands are good, but identical, well, not quite.
  • Joel from Columbia, ScToo much like Slipknot in my opinion.
  • Nick from Paramus, NjI always thought this song was about how nothing changes, time is just an illusion, the sun doesn't rise at all, the Earth just revolves around it, existance is just one long day, and although minor things change ie styles of clothing, music, etc, people are basically the same, we still commit crimes, acts of violence, and so on, and it always was that way, always will be that way. There are good people and bad people in this world and although it appears as the world is evolving, it's just the same scary world it always was, and always will be.
