  • Hate the way that you've taken back
    Everything you've given to me
And the way that you'd always say
It's nothing to do with me
    Different versions of many men
    Come before you came
    All their questions was similar
    The answers just the same

I'm gonna get me a motor car
    Maybe a Jaguar
Maybe a plane or a day of fame
    I'm gonna be a millionaire
So can you take me there
Want to be wild 'cause my life's so tame
Here am I, going nowhere on a train
Here am I, growing older in the rain

    Hey
    Hey
    Hey

Hate the way that you've taken back
    Everything you've given to me
And way that you always say
It's nothing to do with me
    Different versions of many men
    Come before you came
    All their questions was similar
    The answers just the same

I'm gonna get me a motor car
    Maybe a Jaguar
Maybe a plane or a day of fame
    I'm gonna be a millionaire
So can you take me there
Want to be wild 'cause my life's so tame
Here am I, going nowhere on a train
Here am I, growing older in the rain
Here am I, going nowhere on a train
Here am I, getting lost and lonely sad and only
Why sometimes does my life feel so tame?

  • Nati from Buenos Aires, ArgentinaGoing Nowhere was written around 1990 before the band was signed ("It's about what we were going to do when we got a s--tload of money off Creation"); it was not recorded until after the Be Here Now album, when there was a hankering for something less massive. Noel and drummer Alan White are the only Oasis members involve, with piano, brass and horn players to bring a vaguely Burt Bacharach atmosphere. Noel only wishes he knew another rhyme for "car" and "Jaguar". (from The Masterplan songbook)
  • Chris from London, United KingdomBy all accounts Noel wanted to write a track in a style that was pay homage to Burt Barharach, one of his songwriting heroes. Added the fact that he joined him on stage at the Royal Festival Hall to sing "This Guy's In Love with You" - a classic version of a beautiful song.
  • Daniel from Rio De Janeiro, BrazilIt's one of the 3 b-sides from the "Stand By Me" single (1997), the only one from that single that got included on "The Masterplan" b-sides comp. and also the only one with a clean intro/outro. All other songs on the single (even the a-side) cross fade into each other.
  • Claire from ManchesterThis song is on 'The Masterplan' - Oasis' fourth album which had B sides on it. I think it's one of the best songs on the album.
  • Martin from Reading, Englandi herd....this was written when noel was on the train going from manchester to london and the journey took forever ect.........

one of paul wellers favourites of oasis
  • Cody from Frankston, United StatesThis song was written by Noel Gallagher before he even knew Bonehead, Guigsy and Tony. This is song was written in the late 80's.
