  • I'm free to be whatever I
Whatever I choose, and I'll sing the blues if I want
I'm free to say whatever I
Whatever I like, if it's wrong or right, it's alright

    Always seems to me
You only see what people want you to see
    How long's it gonna be
Before we get on the bus and cause no fuss
Get a grip on yourself, it don't cost much

    Free to be whatever you
Whatever you say, if it comes my way, it's alright
You're free to be wherever you
Wherever you please, you can shoot the breeze if you want

    It always seems to me
You only see what people want you to see
    How long's it gonna be
Before we get on the bus and cause no fuss
Get a grip on yourself, it don't cost much

    Free to be whatever I
Whatever I choose, and I'll sing the blues if I want

    Here in my mind
    You know you might find
    Something that you
    You thought you once knew
    But now it's all gone
And you know it's no fun
Yeah, I know it's no fun
Oh, I know it's no fun

I'm free to be whatever I
Whatever I choose, and I'll sing the blues if I want
I'm free to be whatever I
Whatever I choose, and I'll sing the blues if I want

Whatever you do, whatever you say
    Yeah, I know it's alright
Whatever you do, whatever you say
    Yeah, I know it's alright

  • Paul from London, -Guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs recalled ..."Noel had shown us Whatever very early on and it freaked my head out. It was like, 'Nah you haven't f---ing written that.' It was brilliant." And he was right. Noel didn't write it.
  • Supermanfriday from Wigan, United KingdomNoel has or had a good knack of using tunes or jingles that lie subconciously in your frontal lobe...me and you you and me was a program for kids at school he used this for shes electric..he used beatles, bolan, stones, stevie wonder, velvet underground etc...but this isnt just poaching its genius..anyone who watched python live at the hollywood bowl..this tune for Whatever stuck in your head and Noel just tapped it..
  • Tomislav from Split, CroatiaActually I don't think it was because Noel doesn't like Liams singing XD I heard somewhere that they used to let the audience sing the intro for the song , the first verse, and then Liam was suposed to start...he started at first verse so thats what Noel was mad about...
  • Nate from Pittsburgh, PaThis song should get more atention and it has a good meaning
  • Schmitty from Vienna, Vahas anyone here seen the live video where liam starts singing it...but Noel doesnt like how hes singing...so Liam just walks off and Noel sings it...all the while having Liam heckle him much like the unplugged performance
  • Tristan from Bangor, WalesThe melody of the chorus of Don't Look Back In Anger fits over the orchestra playing out at the end too...
  • Jesse from Peterborough, CanadaRe: Youpie, Washington DC comment. The chords are not the same as Octopus' Garden. The Beatles song is in E and the solo in A. Whatever is originally in G and later, Noel moved it up to Bb using Capo III. The melody just happens to fit the song. There are also live versions of Whatever that include 'All the young dudes' by Mott the Hoople. Thanks for your two cents.
  • Jack Lee from Nottingham, EnglandThis is my favourite Oasis track. It was also used on the Sky One programme 'Dream Tream'
  • Si from London, EnglandThe melody is actually a direct copy of the Neil Innes song "How Sweet to be an Idiot"...
