  • (We are young)
    (We are young)
    We are young
    (Heartache to heartache)
    Heartache to heartache
    (We stand) we stand

    (No promises)
    No promises
    (No demands)
    No demands
    (Love is a battlefield)
    Love is a battlefield
    Whoa

    We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong
Searching our hearts for so long
    Both of us knowing
    Love is a battlefield

    You're making me go
    Then making me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad?
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way
Or am I the best thing you've had?
    Believe me, believe me
    I can't tell you why
But I'm trapped by your love
And I'm chained to your side

    We are young
    Heartache to heartache
    We stand
    No promises
    No demands
    Love is a battlefield

    We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong
Searching our hearts for so long
    Both of us knowing
    Love is a battlefield

    When I'm losing control
    Will you turn me away
    Or touch me deep inside?
And when all this gets old
Will it still feel the same?
There's no way this will die
But if we get much closer
    I could lose control
    And if your heart surrenders
    You'll need me to hold

    We are young
    Heartache to heartache
    We stand
    No promises
    No demands
    Love is a battlefield

    We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong
Searching our hearts for so long
    Both of us knowing
    Love is a battlefield

    We are young
    Heartache to heartache
    We stand
    No promises
    No demands
    Love is a battlefield

    We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong

  • Akira808This song used a LinnDrum, which was a follow-up to the LM-1. It had higher quality samples, and included the crash and ride cymbals, which the LM-1 lacked, but could be added through an expensive upgrade. The drawback to the LinnDrum was not all the sounds were tunable, unlike the LM-1. Despite this, the LinnDrum sold for $2,500 less than the LM-1.
  • Steve In Ut from UtahWhen Pat was recording this song, Don Henley stopped by the studio. He loved the backseat used. He asked Giraldo if he minded if he borrowed the beat. Neil said no. Don used a near identical rythym in his song "Boys of Summer" which would also peak at #5 a year later.
  • Travler from West-by-godI handed Pat a Black Rose on stage while she was doing a show at the MGM Grand in Atlantic City !

  • Jeff from Austin, TxThat pimp in the video played a huge role in my childhood. My dad wasn't around much, and that pimp played a major "father" role in my life. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for that pimp.
  • Bunhyung from Poland, Me"The music video got a great deal of airplay on MTV at a time when all they did was show videos."

Yeah, it was Music TV, now its just crap
  • Tom from Dozier, Al I liked what she did with song lyrics: she pushed them to the max, wringing everything she could out of a song. When I think about 80's hits, Pat Benatar always comes to mind.
