  • And when I go away
I know my heart can stay with my love
    It's understood
It's in the hands of my love
And my love does it good

    Whoa oh-oh, whoa oh-oh
    My love does it good

    And when the cupboards bare
I'll still find something there with my love
    It's understood
    It's everywhere with my love
And my love does it good

    Whoa oh-oh, whoa oh-oh
    My love does it good
Oh, I love, oh, my love
Only my love holds the other key to me
Oh, my love, oh, my love
Only my love does it good to me

    Whoa oh-oh, whoa oh-oh
    My love does it good

    Don't ever ask me why
I never say goodbye to my love
    It's understood
    It's everywhere with my love
My love does it good, oh

    Whoa oh-oh, whoa oh-oh
    My love does it good
Oh, I love, oh, my love
Only my love does it good to me
Whoa oh-oh, whoa oh oh Writer/s: Linda McCartney, Paul James McCartney

  • David Brownlow from Northern IrelandI had the pleasure of meeting Henry McCullough when I was in my early teens when he was home visiting his mother in Portstewart on the north coast of Ireland. (This was a few years after he'd recorded this track with Wings). I love this insight into the way he persuaded McCartney to allow him to do his own solo. It would be nice if the video clip on this page was that of the official music video of 'My love' with McCullough playing the solo!
  • Unoque from Shreveport, LaWhen I was between the ages of 7-10 I heard an R&B singer sing “My Love Does It Good” it was on a 45. Who was that singer?
  • Jennifur Sun from RamonaLOVE THIS SONG. can't imagine any guy loving me so much he would write a song like this for the world to hear. Same way with my fav (well tied for first fav) Smokey Robinson tune: "I'll Try Something New."
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyAs stated in a below post, "My Love", peaked at #1 {for 4 weeks} on May 27th, 1973...
And what artist knocked "My Love" out of the top spot, why it was fellow ex-Beatle, George Harrison, with "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)"...
  • Kramo from Toronto, CanadaI like McCartney. Although he can suck really hard. This song makes me want to hit something. All that wo wo wo nonsense. It's a pain to listen to.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn April 16th, 1973, Paul McCartney and Wings performed "My Love" on the ABC-TV special 'James Paul McCartney'...
Eight days earlier on April 8th, 1973 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #73; and on May 27th it peaked at #1 (for 4 weeks) and spent 18 weeks on the Top 100 (and for 9 of those 18 weeks it was on the Top 10)...
And on the same day it reached #1 on the Top 100 it also peaked at #1 (for 3 weeks) on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
R.I.P. Linda McCartney (1941 - 1998), Jimmy McCulloch (1953 - 1979), and Sir Paul will celebrate his 72nd birthday in two months on June 18th.
  • Buddy from Branford, CtWow, I'm suprised Paul allowed Henry McCullough to play his own lead?? Because as you know with Paul, I'm sure he had a demo of this song fully finished.
Glad he let Henry do his own thing. Wonder what lead Paul had first?
As with Badfinger, he gave a demo of the complete song" Come and Get it" (even with his own vocals) to Badfinger and told them he wanted the song recorded just like his demo.
And after listning to Badfinger sing the vocals, he chose Tom Evans as the lead vocalist. Ive heard Pauls version of Come & Get it. Its exactly the same only Paul singing.
Its almost as if they took Pauls voice off and put Tom's voice in. Paul could of easily had a hit with this one but I Believe he wasa Beatle then.(Not sure)
  • Terry from Algonquin, IlThere is a lot more behind the words of this song. I have an understanding that the song is related to other lovers of Linda's. "Only my love does it good to me".

  • George from Belleville, NjThis is a world class ballad. It has a timeless melody. The lyrics are charming. When McCartney was on,nobody could write a ballad quite like him. He was writing great songs even after the Beatles broke up.This song has a dreamy effect. It is now a classic.
  • Gerry from Houston, TxI love this song... sounds so much more Beatles than Wings
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOh No!!! the 'cute' Beatle bumped by the 'quiet' Beatle. On June 2nd, 1973 "My Love" reached #1 & stayed there for four weeks. Then "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" by George Harrison moved into the #1 position for one week!!!
  • Sarah from Kennewick, WaPaul's sweetest ballad. I love this song.
  • Paula from Laredo, TxOnly a true Romantic could write such beautiful words
  • Tricia from Rockville Centre, NyI love this song...especially when I seen a couple dance their first dance at a wedding..its a beautiful wedding song....and I think of how beautiful and angelic Paul's beloved wife Linda was....defiently a true love anthem!
