I'm a Loser

  • I'm a loser
    I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Of all the love I have won or have lost
There is one love I should never have crossed
She was a girl in a million, my friend
I should have known she would win in the end

    I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
    I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Although I laugh and I act like a clown
Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for her or myself that I cry?

    I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
    I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

What have I done to deserve such a fate?
I realize I have left it too late
And so it's true pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all

    I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
    I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be Writer/s: John Lennon, Paul McCartney

  • Jennifur Sun from RamonaHave felt like this being a member of a really BAD CLUB those who have lost family to cancer.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn October 7th 1964, the Beatles, via a video taped in London, appeared on ABC-TV program "Shindig!' and the quartet performed "I'm a Loser," "Kansas City," and "Boys."...
None of the three songs made the Top 100 chart in the U.S.A.
  • Don from Willoughby, OhMrCleveland, I think you are right.
  • Zero from Nowhere, Nj"Part of me suspects I'm a loser, and part of me thinks I'm God Almighty," heh, I can relate...
  • Chloe from St. Louis, Monice video on this page- i love how everbody starts screaming when they sing 'im a loser'. ironic, as he is probably the biggest un-loser of all time....
  • Mrcleaveland from Cleveland,If my memory is correct, the Beatles introduced this song to America on the TV show "Hullabaloo." This show consisted of an hour of live performances by the many rock groups of the day. A similar show called "Shindig" was more popular at the time, so "Hullabaloo" scored a huge ratings coup by getting the Beatles to appear.
  • Powerpopfan from Bronx, NyOne of the first folk-rock songs. Has some country influence in it also.
  • Emily from Newcastle, AustraliaWhen the beatles performed this on a talk show paul mccartney froget the words

  • Emily from Newcastle, Australiai so thought this was sung by Paul McCartney. Whoah i was way wrong.
  • Charles from Providence, RiMy favorite song and sometimes reminds me of myself
  • Dea from Tirana, Albaniawell, of course it's a great song, like most of the beatles songs. i really like it, but according to the song profile, it doesn't fit me. doesn't really matter, for as long as i love it! i guess that's because that's how i feel right now!...i'm a looooser....
  • Forrest from Rochester, MnThis is the first grunge-rock lyric, set to a country/western rhythm track.
  • Forrest from Rochester, MnJohn mentions a clown in this song and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" as a tribute to Bob Dylan who liked the lyrical imagery of clowns.
  • Peter from Stockholm, SwedenThe best song on "for sale." I think Lennons songs " looser " and " no reply " saves this album. The McCartney material is strangely vague.
  • Justin from Woodland Hills, Cagood but depressing
  • Krissy from Boston, MaGood song. But it's ironic cause he was the oppsite of a loser. At least not in the public eye.
  • Sammy from Ct, United StatesThis is me in a nutshell. Rock on, John!
  • Dave from Bronx, NyThis song might be inspired by Dylan but Dylan was also influenced by the Beatles too. This song combines folk with country not enough credit goes to the Beatles for doing this kind of rock this was done before the Band and The Byrd's did country rock.
  • Allen from Up, CtI can't belive this was a b-side.
  • Joey from Nowhere Land, Cafreaking love this song!!
  • Steve from Fenton, MoI think this is one of John's best songs and he does a great job singing it. It's better than some of the songs on the Red Greatest Hits CD. I agree with Harry that Beatles For Sale is a bit weak compared to the others, but it still has a few great songs on it. I think some of the Beatles cover songs are great, but on this CD I like only Rock and Roll Music of the five covers they do. Words of Love is ok.
  • Sylvia from London, England Yes, I love this song too. But sometimes, with the mean things John says (said) and does (did), I sometimes almost agree with the lyrics... (Sorry, John-Lovers! I'm a Georgie-Girl.)
  • Harry from Cornwall, EnglandI'm not that keen on "Beatles For Sale" although it has some good Carl Perkins covers on it.
  • Laura from Santa Fe, NmThis is a great song. As soon as I heard it before reading it I though, Bob Dylan
  • Liliana from Huntley, Iltotally rocks
  • Adrian from Wilmington, DeI love the Dylan-inspired lyrics, which makes this a standout song on Beatles For Sale.
