Sing me a line from your favorite song
    Twist and turn
But you're trapped in the light
    All the directions were wrong

You'll fall in love with somebody else
    Tonight

    Help yourself
    But tell me the words
    Before you fade away
    You reveal all the secrets
    To remember the end
    And escape someday

You'll fall in love with somebody else
    Again tonight

    Take a step
    You move in time
    But it's always back...
    The reasons are clear
    Your face is drawn
And ready for the next attack Writer/s: LAURENCE ANDREW TOLHURST, MATTHIEU A. HARTLEY, ROBERT JAMES SMITH, SIMON GALLUP

  • Harlow from MichiganI think that this song might be written in the perspective of Mary... "Twist and turn, but you're trapped in the light..." Could be a metaphor for The Cure’s quick rise to fame and "You'll fall in love with someone else tonight," Could be the anxiety Mary feels about Robert's fame and what comes with being a rockstar; cheating, love affairs, ect... I'm not sure when exactly but around this time didn't Robert have a side-relationship with Lydia Lunch, too?
  • Period from OhioI agree with Anon from the UK...the M intro sounds really similar to the About a Girl intro so I think the quote has to be related, but which came first? On wikipedia it says Kurt Cobain was inspired to write it after listening to The Beatles & it doesn’t mention The Cure, but I’d be really surprised if he hadn’t been listening to this song around the time he wrote it.
  • Anon from UkI think “cryptic” answer from Robert Smith on what this song is about probably also a rather sarcastic remark about the strong similarity of a particular Nirvana song which uses a similar chord structure and lyrical content
  • Mary Smith from Capital Federal, ArgentinaThis song is in the album seventeen seconds, and when robert writted this song he was having couple- problems with mary. Hear the song again and its all about conflicts etc... ``you love someone else´´
  • Charlotte Smith from El Paso, Txwhat does the song mean?
