  • And through the fence I see a ghost
Of a place that used to breathe
You know it choked away the sun
But we still had food to eat

    And now everyone is gone
To a place that won't be home
Can they keep their family strong?
Will they make it on their own?

And we'll be standing when you're gone
    And we'll be heard again
We missed our chance but not for long
I know somehow we will hold on we'll be here
    When you're gone

    Then one day we realized
That they couldn't hear our voice
And it's so hard to understand
When it's caught up in the noise

But the ones who fight and die
Are the truth inside the lie
Now it's all built on our backs
    And we struggle to survive

And we'll be standing when you're gone
    And we'll be heard again
We missed our chance but not for long
I know somehow we will hold on we'll be here

  • John from Vandalia, IlI love this song. There's just something about the "feel" and tone that I love. It wasn't one of their most popular songs, but I think it should have been. Great song. I love when they play it in concert too, it's just as good live, if not better, since you can really feel the emotion.
  • Lacey Huber from Grafton, NeGoo Goo Dolls are one of my favorite band because they always sing about something other than drugs, girls, and sex. They have great meanings to their songs. I wish there were more bands like them.
  • Olga from Bat Yam, United Statesi love this song . i think it's about the band itself . that they 'll be standing when we're gone( the fans) like when we'll be over a certain phase in our lives - or gbe grown ups - in my case , and the verse" and then one day we realised that they couldn't hear our voice and it's so hard to understand when it's caught up in the noise but the ones who fight and die are the truth inside the lie"to me "the noise" is all the stupid , so- called 'music' -people who have nothing to sing about exept girls cars and how bad ass they are , or realy great bands who sold out and don't care anymore , and " the ones whop fight and die" are the people who listen to Real bands to ARTISTS in the pure meaning of it.And they' "die" because they get pshed down by "the noise people". I will always love the goo goo dolls they will always be my favorite band - the best band for me
