  • It's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to
It's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

If you want me to love you, maybe I will
Believe me woman, it ain't no big deal
You need love now, just as bad as I do
Makes me no difference now, who you give your thing to

Oh, it's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to
It's your thing, do what you wanna do now
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

I'm not trying to run your life,
I know you wanna do what's right
Oh, give your love now, to whoever you choose
How can you love, with the stuff you use now

It's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to
It's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

Oh, it's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to
It's your thing, do what you wanna do
I can't tell you, who to sock it to

Let me hear you say something
I do what I wanna do

It's your thing yeah do what they wanna do
Don't let the chain, who to sock it to Writer/s: O'Kelly Isley, Ronald Isley, Rudolph Isley

  • Cory Rooney from CaliforniaThank you Curtis Pope

My father was Herb Rooney. I appreciate your mention of my dad along with the other great musicians that made magic on that special night. This song and their legacy should never be forgotten.
  • Et From LaKevin from Seattle, yeah brother they snapped the meters hard on the tape machine got off some cool saturation on this track. Play it loud today it still sounds amazing and phat.
  • Et from LaIts crude...but the lyrics seem to be about a man telling his woman, that she can sleep with other men if she wants to. "Its yo thing. Do what you wanna do. I can't tell you, who to sock it to. etc. Makes me no difference now, who you give your thing too"
  • Curtis Pope from Dc, DcI don't see Curtis Pope's name on(It's your Thing)
It was a head session.. George Paco Patterson and I Colaborated on those famous horn lines...complimenting each other... as we always did. It's registered with the union. Those cromatics are
    my signature..I've always use them...
for so much money made on that song... over the years..you would think I would have my props..
on that session was George Patterson, Curtis Pope, Charles Skip Pitts,Elbert Woody Woodson,Drums, Herb Rooney ..he was the key to connections in NYC . (George Moreland) didn't play on it's Your Thing..he didn't start recording till later.I no who every one was, and is.
  • John from Nashville, TnIn 1970, the Isleys financed an independent film titled "It's Your Thing", a concert movie documenting their triumphant performance at Yankee Stadium in 1969.
  • Kevin from Seattle, WaYou can tell that they really burned this tape hot (to put the VU meters in the red) as there is a lot of tape "hiss" going on. Very bold and very effective.
